The cutting performance of mechanical blade depends on the grinding quality to a great extent, and the grinding quality depends on the grinding equipment and reasonable grinding process. For grinding equipment, it is recommended to use vertical shaft grinder, and the angle of the blade is easy to ensure. White corundum (code WA) is recommended as the grinding wheel. It is not easy to generate heat during grinding. At the same time, coolant must be continuously poured on the contact surface between the cutting edge and the grinding wheel during grinding. Overheating and discoloration of the cutting edge are strictly prohibited. No. 1 metal emulsion is recommended. The whole grinding process is best divided into rough grinding, fine grinding and finishing. The rough and fine grinding are carried out on the knife grinder, and the finishing needs to be carried out by the knife grinder and manual.

The steps of finishing are:

1. It is considered that the blade has been grinded (no spark is seen), so it is not necessary to give the feed at this time. Let the grinder reciprocate several strokes by itself. The stroke depends on the length of the blade, and the shorter the stroke.

2. remove the blade from the knife grinder and use the oilstone for manual repair and grinding to obtain an excellent sharp edge. The method is to use the oiled oilstone to gently remove the micro burrs generated by the sharpener on the cutting edge, stick the oilstone close to the front knife surface, and rotate and move the oilstone to the full length of the blade.

3. Use the same method to move the oilstone to the full length of the blade and finish grinding the rear blade surface, but tilt the oilstone slightly at an angle of no more than 1 °. After grinding according to the above method, an ideal blade can be completed.

Material and composition of paper cutter blade

The blade of the paper cutter is made of the blade and the blade body through high-temperature inlay welding. HSS (high speed steel) or chromium tungsten manganese CrWMn steel with high hardness is usually used for the blade part, and cemented carbide is used in some cases. The cutter body is usually made of low carbon steel. After quenching treatment, the hardness of the blade can reach 60-64hrc.
